Painting a dance group - Filipino Heritage support

Nika was asked to serve as the creative visual art director for the 'Pinoy Regional Rhythmic Dancers', a dance group that showcases the talented youth of various regional backgrounds for Filipino Heritage. She designed stunning tribal displays, borrowing from tribal work, to enhance the performance of the young dancers.

Nika takes on her first apprentices

Nika, a teacher by profession, enjoys teaching young people and creating a platform for them to explore abstract concepts. She transformed her exhibition, "Brockhouse," into a training and experiential space for teenagers. Through her guidance, they learned how to interpret abstract art and initiate discussions about self-awareness, connection to self, and emotional evolution.

Connecting the youth back to nature

The significance of nature cannot be overstated. We see how our detachment from the natural world and the planet has negative consequences. To begin to appreciate the value and extravagance of nature, Nika showed the youth how to create lux non-alcoholic beverages using locally sourced, seasonal, and abundant ingredients. An opportunity to learn about mixology, herbology, history, and aesthetics.

Teaching our children how to hold space for their emotions

How many times have we said to ourselves as we develop in self-actualization: "If only I had been taught this since I was a child."

Nika took this to heart and was warmly welcomed into the classroom of a local school to teach her creative process. They had fun, practiced breathing techniques, and meditated to connect to their emotions. Breakthroughs and memories were made.
